To eliminate once and for all MWE limits turbos, rules for smooth bore turbochargers have been introduced in all areas in most major railway organizations. In terms of power, the 2.6 class discussed here is somewhere below 200 horsepower compared to yesterday`s 2.6 MWE trucks. However, the old 2.6 is now the new Limited Pro Stock, which means that these competitors did not suffer any real loss of power when the 2.6 MWE turbo class switched to 3.0 smooth tube chargers. Please follow these rules and regulations when entering a contest. The vehicle shall retain the factory wheelbase and the original track gauge. Maximum 1 ton truck chassis allowed only (SEE BELOW FOR 2016 CHANGES TO PPL DIESEL PICKUP CLASS) All trucks must have U-shields at least six inches wide around the rear U-seal made of at least 1/4 inch steel or 3/8 inch aluminum that securely contain the U-seal and the end of the rear shaft. All shields must be securely attached to the vehicle. Each U-joint of the front shaft visible from the side of the truck must be armoured to contain the U-joint and the end of the shaft. The 3.0-inch turbos will only be an exhibition and will comply with NK`s general safety rules. Water injection is prohibited. All system components must be removed from the truck. Unlike many classes of DOT tires, all Pro Street diesel trucks are limited to a single rear wheel configuration. This means that there are no doppelgängers – not even on a 1-ton truck that left the factory with them.
Along with turbo and OEM driving rules, this is one of the main limiting factors in the category, but it makes choosing the right line and driving skills all the more important. When it comes to tires, the well-known 35-inch rule applies to the maximum diameter (no cuts, spikes, or chains). Another important requirement is the use of factory axles, gearboxes and distribution boxes. All components must have been available in a manufacturer`s van of 1 tonne or less. Fortunately, the Dana 80 and AAM 1150 rear axles, used by most competitors in this category, are hard thanks to the increase in the number of grooves, chromolytic axle shafts, lockers and even trusses. Popular transmissions include the venerable NV4500 manual transmission (usually placed behind a Cummins), the Allison 1000 automatic (GM/Duramax apps), and the automatic torqShift (Ford/Power Stroke trucks). Like powertrain parts, the engine had to be an option in a 1-ton pickup or smaller, making Cummins traded trucks 100% legal as long as a 5.9-liter or 6.7-liter is used. In addition, the travel limit is 460 cubic inches, no aluminum or steel billet blocks or heads are allowed, and no individual intake manifolds in the wheel style are allowed. NK pullers have agreed to follow the rules of 2.6″ turbo PPL, 8000 lb diesel truck as stated in the 2016 manual. Diesel trucks with a «smooth bore» 3.0 will run in their own category of diesel trucks. The engine is limited to a standard appearance, the engine and transmission can be swapped between Dodge, Ford and GM as long as they are out of the factory in a truck of 1 ton or less. The complete engine must have a standard appearance, unless otherwise specified in these rules.
The front of the engine block cannot be further forward than 17″ from the centre line of the front axle. Although seats, consoles and carpet can be removed for weight loss, most of the interior of the truck must remain intact. This means a complete dashboard, a full steel firewall and fully functional glass windows. The entrance door panels of the factory should also be kept. As with any class of train, manual air and stop switches must be present and operated by the driver. Safety switches (rain cap or guillotine) must cut off the air to diesel engines. The switch is securely mounted at the rear of the vehicle. Ring at the back of the truck, a massive ring at least two inches in diameter, which the zipper attaches to the rigid tip of the truck.
For all cases of re-sweater, the zipper must be broken. The body must be the body of the OEM truck, including the floor of the full bed. No flat beds allowed. The body must contain complete sheet metal, replacement hoods are allowed. The hood must be closed and securely locked while the vehicle is attached to the sled. Ballast iFront suspension weights are allowed, no more than 60 inches in front of the center of the front axle.
