One of the objectives of the research is to highlight the right to self-defence because of its particular importance at the level of international law and international organizations because of the absence of an international body with a standing force to deploy if necessary. It publishes well-researched articles/papers, research notes and commentaries, recent developments and rulings of the Supreme Court of India on issues of international law. Fifty years ago, a group of Columbia law students of the Columbia Society of International Law, led by the late Professor Wolfgang Friedmann, founded the Bulletin of the Columbia Society of International Law. The first volume of the Circular, which contained two issues, was an informal forum for discussion on international legal issues; the second volume, published in 1963 under the title International Law Bulletin, was more in the tradition of academic law review. Today`s Columbia Journal of Transnational Law is the heir to those early efforts. In addition to publishing student notes in print editions of the journal, the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law will also publish online notes on the newsletter starting in 2020.
