(g) domestic waste water is waste and waste water from persons or households discharged into or otherwise entering a treatment plant; (y) storage or storage of sewage sludge: the deposit of sewage sludge on land where sewage sludge remains for two years or less. This does not include the deposit of sewage sludge on surfaces intended for treatment. (f) Household clarifiers are liquids or solids taken from septic tanks, sumps, portable toilets, type III marine sanitary appliances or similar treatment operations and receiving only domestic wastewater. Domestic sludge does not include liquid or solid materials from a septic tank, sump or similar wastewater treatment plant that receives commercial or industrial wastewater and does not include grease removed from a grease trap in a restaurant. The definition includes a special district established under state law, for example: a water district, a wastewater treatment district, a health district, a supply district, a drainage district or similar facility or an integrated waste management facility within the meaning of section 201(e) of the CWA, as modified, which has as its main functions the treatment, transport, use or disposal of sewage sludge. (4) «Municipality» means a city, district, district, county, municipality, district, association or other public body established by or under state law and responsible for the disposal of sewage, industrial waste, or other waste, or an authorized Native American tribal tribe or Indian tribal organization or administrative authority designated and approved in accordance with Article 1288 of this Agreement. Title. 6. «Pollutant» means dredged material, solid waste, incineration residues, sewage, waste, sewage sludge, ammunition, chemical waste, biological material, radioactive material, heat, destroyed or discarded equipment, rocks, sand, basement soil, and industrial, municipal and agricultural waste discharged into water. This term does not mean (A) «ship sewage» as defined in Section 1322 of this Title; or (b) water, gas or other matter injected into a well to facilitate the extraction of oil or gas, or water extracted in connection with the extraction of oil or gas and disposed of in a well, if the well used either to facilitate extraction or for disposal is approved by the State authority; the location of the well; and if that State determines that such injection or disposal does not result in deterioration of groundwater or surface water resources. (a) the spreading of sewage sludge or sewage sludge applied to the ground: the spreading of sewage sludge; (z) Treatment or treatment of sewage sludge is the preparation of sewage sludge for final use or disposal.
This includes, but is not limited to, thickening, stabilizing and dewatering sewage sludge. This does not include the storage of sewage sludge. (aa) Wastewater treatment plants are federal, public or private equipment or systems used for the treatment (including recycling and recovery) of domestic wastewater or a combination of domestic wastewater and industrial waste of a liquid nature; (u) the pollutant limit value is a numerical value describing the permissible quantity of a pollutant per unit of sewage sludge (e.g. milligrams per kilogram of total solids); the amount of a pollutant that can be applied to a terrestrial unit (for example, kilograms per hectare); or the volume of a material that can be applied to an area of land (for example, gallons per acre). (r) The person who treats sewage sludge is either the person who produces the sewage sludge during the treatment of domestic wastewater in a treatment plant, or the person who extracts material from sewage sludge; (s) Sewage sludge or sewage sludge placed: disposal of sewage sludge in a surface landfill. 8. «Territorial sea» means the maritime belt, measured by the ordinary low-water line along the coastal part in direct contact with the high seas and at the line marking the maritime limit of internal waters extending towards the sea over a distance of three miles. (bb) wetlands: flooded or saturated areas with a frequency and duration of surface water or groundwater to support a predominance of vegetation generally adapted to life in saturated soil conditions. Wetlands typically include swamps, swamps, bogs and similar areas. (h) Dry weight basis: calculated on the basis of drying at 105 °C until a constant mass (i.e. essentially 100 per cent solids content) is reached. This content comes from the eCFR and is authoritative but not official.
(b) A baseline flood is one that has a one percent chance of occurring in a given year (i.e., a flood of an order of magnitude once every 100 years). (v) Runoff means rainwater, leachate or any other liquid that flows over the ground over any part of the earth`s surface and flows from the soil surface. (2) «Intergovernmental body» means an agency of two or more States established by or pursuant to a convention or covenant authorized by or under Congress or any other body of two or more States and having substantial powers or duties relating to pollution control, as determined and approved by the Administrator. (17) `compliance schedule` means a schedule of corrective actions, including an enforceable sequence of actions or operations leading to compliance with a waste water restriction, other control, prohibition or standard. (l) Food crops are crops consumed by humans. These include fruits, vegetables and tobacco. (m) Groundwater is water below the surface of the ground in the saturated zone.
