Founded in 1894, Wake Forest University School of Law in Winston-Salem is a mainstay of law education in North Carolina. With the affordable tuition fees and solid career prospects, there is no doubt that this school offers great value. However, school is not for everyone. Those seeking the experience of attending law school in a major city should look elsewhere, as should those seeking a diverse clinical offering. Wake Forest has recently expanded its clinical offering. While you won`t find a big-city experience here, Wake`s clinical offerings and new facilities should complement the school`s excellent teachers and strong regional reputation. Located in a scenic area of North Carolina, the cost of living in Winston-Salem can be much cheaper than in large urban areas where many other public or private schools are located. Bar throughput rates mirror those of new candidates for the Winter and Summer 2017 exams. The State has the highest number of law school graduates passed the bar examination for the period under review. The most popular is the JD/MBA. Long-standing joint degrees include the JD/MA in Bioethics, JD/Master of Theology, JD/MA in Religion. In 2015, the Faculty of Law began offering a JD/MA in Sustainability. First-year class sizes are smaller than many other top-notch law schools across the country, with about 40 students in each section and 20 students in the legal analysis, writing, and research sections in their first year. Because giving back to the community is paramount to your growth as an individual and advocate, the core of our approach is to help you become good advocates for citizens. In terms of teaching, the Wake Forest School of Law is of great value. Recently, the National Jurist named the number one school among private schools on a national list of «Best Buys». Not only are tuition fees low – $42,738 for 20015-16, but the cost of living is also cheap. Students spend an average of about $11,700 on housing, food and utilities. In addition, Wake Forest is very generous when it comes to financial assistance. A whopping 15.7% of students receive full tuition; and 50% get between half and all of the tuition fees.
90% of students enrolled this fall received a $5,000 grant for full tuition. In total, the 75th percentile grant was just under $34,500 and the 25th percentile grant was $14,000. Wake Forest Law ranks #91 in terms of tuition fees among full-time law students ($46,409). We rank out of a total of 283 tuition fees from 194 law schools and rank twice as many law schools that have different tuition fees inside and outside the state. Wake Forest offers a range of degrees for international lawyers, including an LLM and SJD. The Faculty of Law recently began offering a 2-year JD program for international lawyers. In the class of 2013, approximately 45.3% of Wake Forest graduates found work in private practice. 6.2% completed a legal internship. 13.9% in government positions. The rest is divided between public interest jobs, business and industry and other miscellaneous sectors. For those who chose the private sector, they started with an average salary in the mid-800s. Wake forest law graduates enjoy much greater national mobility than one would expect from a school that ranks outside the top 25. Graduates found work in more than 22 states in 2013, 52 percent of which were outside North Carolina. It should also be noted that Winston-Salem is a residential area.
