3. The product shall be equipped with an additional flotation cushion material of a non-absorbent type with dense cells, such as PVC foam or colitis®. This flotation/padding must be sewn into the installation as follows: boats propelled by an engine of less than 25 hp have no age restrictions for operators. Persons between the ages of 12 and 15 are allowed to operate a personal watercraft as long as there are no passengers under the age of 15 on board. A person must be at least 16 years of age to legally rent a personal watercraft. (b) It is illegal for a person to operate or be a passenger of a personal watercraft on board a personal watercraft in the waters of that Commonwealth unless the person is wearing a portable personal flotation device approved by the United States Coast Guard in accordance with section 97.1 (with respect to personal flotation devices). Individual inflatable clothing should not be used to meet this requirement. In Pennsylvania, no one can operate a boat under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. Similar to an impaired driving (IMPAIRED DRIVING) offence, a person operating a boat or boat under the influence of alcohol may navigate under the influence of (BUI). (d) A person may not operate a personal watercraft between sunset and sunrise.

Is designed to be operated by a person sitting, standing or kneeling on the ship and not by a person sitting or standing inside the ship. The personal watercraft cannot be used between half an hour after sunset and half an hour before sunrise. A personal watercraft must be used in a reasonable and prudent manner. For the purposes of this subdivision, a paddleboard is a non-freeboard vessel propelled by a paddle, rudder, rod or other device. It is illegal for a person to use or attempt to operate a paddleboard in the waters of this Commonwealth without having a portable personal flotation device approved by the United States Coast Guard on board for each person, unless otherwise required to be worn in accordance with § 97.1 (with respect to personal swimming devices).
This prohibition does not apply to persons who operate or attempt to operate a paddleboard in designated bathing, surfing or bathing areas. When it comes to the United States, it`s good to know that in most states it`s not legal to jet ski at night. Usually, you are allowed to drive your jet ski until sunset, but the exact time may vary from state to state. Your personal watercraft must be equipped with a ship fire extinguisher and emergency signalling devices. All PWCs must be registered in accordance with state regulations and display a registration number. All machine-powered vessels, including gasoline, diesel and electric engines, and operated primarily in Pennsylvania waters, must be registered by the CBFP and equipped with a Pennsylvania Ship Registration Card. Documented pleasure boats such as yachts must also be registered, as well as sailboats that use gasoline, diesel or electric engines as auxiliary energy. Persons under 11 years of age are under no circumstances allowed to operate a motorized boat of more than 25 hp. This also includes personal watercraft. Personal watercraft can only be operated between sunrise and sunset. Can I get a DUI on a kayak in Pennsylvania? It is illegal to operate a boat of any kind in Pennsylvania under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
(b) Windsurfing. For the purposes of this subsection, a windsurf is a type of one- or two-hulled boat equipped with an articulated mast and designed for use by a person standing on the board and maneuvering through the size of the hand sail and the distribution of body weight on the board. It is illegal for a person to use or attempt to use a windsurf in the waters of this Commonwealth unless they are wearing a portable personal swimming device approved by the United States Coast Guard. Individual inflatable clothing should not be used to meet this requirement. (d) umbilical cord or remote controls. A person cannot use a device controlled by a person connected to the power source that pulls them on or through water using an umbilical cord or remote control, or both. Pennsylvania`s boat and liquor laws require that no one be allowed to operate a boat in Pennsylvania waters under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or a combination thereof. Alcohol is banned on land and water in all state parks and on most U.S. Army Corps of Engineer projects. The competent observer has the task of observing the progress of the towed person and therefore cannot be tasked with searching for other vessels in front of the tugboat.
A competent observer is not legally obliged to act as an observer. Smith v. Haggerty, 169 F. Supp. 2d 376 (E.D. Pa. 2001), Notice withdrawn and cancelled at 223 F. Supp.
2d 618, 2002 A.M.C. (f) VFI. It is illegal for a person to use a boat on the waters of this Commonwealth for: On average, a jet ski should have about 30 hours a year. Anything over 30 hours a year is considered «high hours.» Most jet ski models have a lifespan of around 300 hours, but if properly maintained, they can last much longer. In addition, a Pennsylvania Boating Safety Education Certificate is required to operate a personal watercraft (MOTOmarine) in Pennsylvania. Persons towed behind a vessel on water skis, surfboards or other equipment or their tow rope must not be within 100 feet of a personal watercraft. It is illegal to use the vessel or manipulate the tow rope, water skis or other devices so that the towed aircraft or towed person collides with another person or object. A person 11 years of age or younger must NOT operate a boat or boat propelled by an engine of more than 25 hp. A person between the ages of 12 and 15 is NOT permitted to operate a personal watercraft if there are passengers on board who are 15 years of age or younger. An average jet ski can run for about 1-2 hours with a fuel tank if you drive it at full speed.
If you drive it at the best cruising speed, you can expect to jet ski for 4-7 hours before you need to recharge it. (1) General rule. Unless otherwise specified in this subsection, it is illegal for a person to operate a boat that tows or otherwise assists a person on water skis, unless there is at least one competent observer in the boat in addition to the operator of the boat. The observer must be positioned in the boat to observe the progress of the towed person. It is unlawful for a person to engage in water skiing when towed by a boat or apparatus that does not contain an operator and observer in accordance with this paragraph. Residents of other states born on or after January 1, 1982 are exempt from Pennsylvania education requirements as long as they are not serving in Pennsylvania waters for more than 60 consecutive days and hold a boat safety certificate issued by their state of residence. It is illegal to operate a personal watercraft between sunset and sunrise or during periods of limited visibility. Operators must watch a personal watercraft instruction video (approved by the AGFC), and the livery must provide the operator with written instructions on the vessel. Prohibited between 30 minutes after sunset and 30 minutes before sunrise. Boat owners must have at least a 60-day temporary registration certificate before they can operate in state waters.
